Nurturing leads with a weekly curated newsletter

You’ve probably heard about “lead nurturing”. It means a couple of things. Sometimes it’s guiding your prospects towards a sale. To me, it’s a way of staying “top of mind” with both prospects and clients.

Being top of mind helps with loads of important parts of your business – referrals, sales and marketing. Having an audience that know who you are and remember you is gold.

A weekly newsletter is a simple way to stay in touch with people for this reason. The problem is, creating one can be time-consuming to think about a topic and write content for it regularly.

An easier way it to curate other people’s content. It’s win-win-win. They get their content shared, you get content for your newsletter, and it’s helpful for your audience.

In this video series, I’ll show you how I created a weekly newsletter that takes less than an hour to create and send, without writing any content. Even better, this same process also keeps our social media feeds going for the week and gets turned into a blog post. That’s pretty good time leverage.

With my newsletter, I’ve been getting some great feedback. Some people have said things like it’s the only newsletter they stay subscribed to. In an industry where there are tons of newsletters, this means a lot.

I think the most important part is actually making it useful for your audience. I have subscribed to several newsletters, and most of them post stuff that just isn’t interesting.

Focus on posts that are actionable, quick to consume or scan, or just really interesting.

So a list of the 85 best plugins for WordPress is a no go – because no one wants to trawl through that many things.

My current newsletter is called the Web Business Weekly. I’ve since decided I hate the name but it’s staying.

The audience is digital agencies and creative freelancers. When I’m picking content, I’ve got these guys in mind. Everything goes through the filter of “is this REALLY useful”.

The video below is part one of my series. You’ll hear about why you should create a newsletter, and you’ll see what mine looks like. Further on in the series, you’ll learn about my content workflow for creating my newsletter in record time.
